Sony has taken a patent to change the inside parts of the PlayStation Portable Slim&Lite. This new patent doesn’t mean Sony is working on the PSP 2, the only reason they took this patent is that they want to make the production of the PSP-2000cheaper by updating some of the hardware inside. Thanks to this newer and cheaper technology Sony will be able to make the PSP Slim and Litea little cheaper. Let’s hope this means a pricedrop for the PSP Slim!
Square Enix has released a new Final Fantasy: Crisis Core VII trailer. In this trailer the focus is on Genesis and Sephiroth who play an important role in this PSP-game.
A kid was burned by a PlayStation Portable in his pocket at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills. The 12 year old Harold Clay had a hole in his pants caused by the fire of the PSP. The school placed a lockdown so that emergency units could get through to help Harold, at the hospital he is being treated for his second-degree burn to the leg. Police are still investigating this accident, but according to the parents of the boy the PSP wasn’t even on. They are planning to contact Sony to see if more of these cases have been reported in the past.
Square-Enix has announced that they will be releasing Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII this Spring in all PAL territories. This PSP-game is coming out in the US in the first quarter of 2008, but the big fans of the serie have already imported their copy from Japan. In this game you play as Zack, an enthusiastic boy who wants to make a carreer at SOLDIER and his big hero Sephiroth.
Japan always gets hilarious TV commercials, and this new PSP Slim&Lite ad is another very funny one. Santa Clauss is dragging a heavy bag with gifts and the reindeer is showing him the shiny new red PSP-2000 for the holidays. Now Santa doens’t have to carrry around a heavy bag since the PSP is so light and slim.
Sony has released a smaller PSP Firmware update coded 3.73. You can download this new PSP system software now via Network Update. The only thing it does is that it improves the operation of the UMD drive to adress cases in which the UMD drive occasionally suspends and fails to reload data. Updating to Firmware 3.73 should kill this failure.
Months ago an ESRB rating for the PSP game ‘Beats’ was appeared on the official ESRB website. Today a new trailer of this music game for the PlayStation Portable popped up on the internet. This nice piece of software is now available on the European PlayStation Store and you can enjoy the new gametrailer in this post.

The first Syphon Filter game for PSP was a big hit in the US, so this sequel was more than welcome. Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow contains a lot of new submerged missions with underwater exploration and combat with whole new combat moves and enhanced hand-to-hand melee attacks. Dispatch your ennemy in a variety of ways including deadly knife attacks. Take a look at the screenshots showing the high-resolution textures and detailed animation produced by the Havoc engine.
